10 Day tour of Turkey, Greece, and Rome
Service Description
Day 1: Departure from the US Our journey begins as we set off on an overnight flight to Izmir, a city steeped in ancient history and Christian significance. Take this opportunity to rest and prepare for the life-altering experience ahead. Tomorrow, you'll find yourself walking where apostles once spread the Gospel. Day 2: Arrival in Izmir Upon arrival, we will transfer to our hotel located in the charming coastal city of Kusadasi, Turkey, where we’ll spend the next two nights. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax, explore the area at your leisure, or enjoy the hotel’s amenities. Day 3: Exploring Ephesus We journey to the historic town of Selcuk to explore the ruins of ancient Ephesus, once a bustling port with a population of 250,000. You will walk through the excavated streets and see landmarks such as the Library, Agora, and the grand theatre. You'll also visit the Basilica of St. John, which holds significance as a sacred Christian site. From this vantage point, you'll take in panoramic views of the ancient port and visit the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Day 4: The Isle of Patmos We embark on a cruise to the historically protected Isle of Patmos, where you’ll tour the Monastery of St. John and visit the cave where John is believed to have received the Revelation. After a day of exploration, enjoy a relaxing evening back on the ship. Day 5: Crete and Santorini Today, we visit Crete, the largest and most rugged of the Greek islands. We’ll tour Heraklion and explore the partially reconstructed Palace of Knossos, believed to be linked to the myth of the Labyrinth. Later, we arrive in Santorini, known for its stunning beauty. You can opt for a panoramic tour through picturesque villages and landscapes before returning to the ship for an evening of dining and entertainment. Day 6: Corinth and Cenchreae After disembarking the cruise, we travel to the ancient city of Corinth, where the Apostle Paul once preached. We’ll visit the Archaeological Museum, the Marketplace, and the Bema, the public platform where Paul likely stood. You'll also have the opportunity to reflect in the ruins of the church in Corinth. The day ends with a visit to Cenchreae, an ancient port where Paul made a stop during his second missionary journey.
